Blast the Bass Slot Review: Bonuses, Features & Free Demo

Launched on February 20, 2025, Blast the Bass is an online slot created by Belatra Games that combines the classic concept of fish money symbols with coin symbols, to create a feature-packed experience worthy of a modern slot game. In this Blast the Bass slot review, we’ll tell you what we think of this 5,000x max win slot game.

Key Takeaways

  • Fish Coins and wild symbols can combine to multiply the value of your wins to over 100x their standard value.
  • Starting a bonus round by triggering 5 scatter symbols can lead to the game’s biggest payouts.
  • With a max win of up to $125,000, this game’s payout potential is fantastic for a fixed jackpot game.

Blast the Bass Gameplay: What to Expect?

You can expect big payouts when you play Blast the Bass, as long as you continue pumping coins and fish money symbols into the reels. The game’s high volatility is clearly reflected in the way random multipliers interact with your payouts, creating an experience that will truly be enjoyed by fixed-jackpot hunters.

With a 5x4 setup, the game pays out from left to write and features 20 paylines

If you think this game plays out similarly to Big Bass Bonanza, think again. We fell in love with this slot’s gameplay from the get-go.

Blast the Bass Pros

  • Large wins possible during the base game
  • Features an even bigger RTP when using the Bonus Buy feature
  • Two types of special symbols help increase payouts
  • Bonus rounds with multipliers of up to 100x per spin

Blast the Bass Cons

  • Very low hit frequency
  • 25%+ mode doesn’t feel rewarding

What Makes Blast the Bass Unique?

The random coins dropping from top to bottom, with a growing multiplier, and the fish symbols with multipliers make base game rounds much more profitable than those of other slots that we’ve played.

You don’t really need to trigger bonus rounds to achieve big payouts in Blast the Bass, and that’s what makes it a unique casino game.

Bonus Features, Bonus Gameplay & Special Features

At first, we thought that this game was going to feature similar mechanics and symbols to Big Bass Bonanza, and even though it does share some similarities, Blast the Bass takes the classic fishing slot gameplay to the next level. These are the main symbols that you’ll find in the game, apart from low-paying and high-paying symbols:

  • Wilds: the fisherman symbol is this slot wild. It substitutes all other symbols in the game to create winning combinations.
  • Scatters: the TNT symbols is this slot’s scatter.
  • Credit symbols: fish symbols are what we refer to as “credit” symbols, which mean that they have values that go from 2x to 1,000x the amount of your bet. But beware: the value shown in these symbols only gets added to your payouts when a Fisherman wild is also on the reels!
  • Fish Coin: the game features a coin icon that shows up with a 10x multiplier at any point in the reels. In the base game, it goes down to the bottom of the reels and increases its multiplier to 20x, 50x, and 100x respectively as it moves. During free spins, it moves one position downwards per spin. If you land a win with a wild symbol with a Fish Coin on your screen, the value of the coin will multiply its payout.

Free Games

Collect three or more scatter symbols to trigger this slot’s free games.

  • 3 scattersymbols grant 10 free spins.
  • 4 scattersymbols grant 10 free spins with a 2x multiplier.
  • 5 scattersymbols grant 10 free spins with a 2x multiplier and 10 spins with a 3x multiplier.

During these rounds, a panel with gray symbols shows up on top of the reels. Each wild that you get during the spins will fill up one of the symbols, granting additional free spins with payout multipliers that go up to 100x.

Three or more scatters trigger the game's free spins

These rounds are similar to those of Big Bass Bonanza, but they have one key difference: additional spins are added every time a wild symbol appears; you don’t need to collect three symbols to trigger additional spins.

We really enjoyed the free spin rounds, and found ourselves using the “Bonus Buy” option to trigger as often as possible.

Bonus Buy

Click on the Star Symbol to access the Bonus Buy option, which allows you to pay additional money to trigger some of the game’s best mechanics. The RTP of buying each feature is fully disclosed in-game, which we really liked

You can pay extra to trigger 100x Fish Coins, the Fish Rain feature (which guarantees fisherman + fish payouts), or standard free games. You can also force the game to enter Hot Mode (bonus round with 5 scatters)

The game also features a 25% Bet Increase option, which gives you a better shot at triggering free games by wagering extra cash per spin.

RTP, Hitting Frequency & Volatility

Don’t expect frequent payouts when playing Blast the Bass, unless luck smiles your way. This game’s high volatility combines with a slightly above-average RTP to grant players access to massive payouts that don’t come as often but feel extremely rewarding.

  • RTP: 96.72%
  • Hit Frequency: 11.32
  • Volatility: High

Blast the Bass Verdict

We didn’t think that we could enjoy a fish-themed slot game that wasn’t released by Pragmatic Play as much as we have enjoyed Blast the Bass. This extremely entertaining game had us salivating every time that a fish coin would show up on screen, let alone whenever we triggered the free spin rounds. It’s a fantastic game that earned its rightful place as The Casino Wizard’s March 2025 Slot of the Month
